"And do Englishmen so soon forget the Ground where Liberty was fought for?"

Monument It is a matter of civic shame for our city that no fitting memorial yet exists to the thousands that died at the Battle of Worcester. It is one of the core aims of the society to see a suitably imposing monument erected in honour of the fallen on both sides. The world-renowned and local sculptor, Kenneth Potts is a society member and we would wish for him to create such a monument, to be located in a prominent position in the centre of the City of Worcester. His highly respected body of work includes the landmark statue of Elgar which stands opposite Worcester Cathedral. His design was unveiled at The Commandery on the 358th anniversary of the Battle by Lord Faulkner of Worcester and Coucillor Andrew Roberts, The Mayor of Worcester.

Monument Location The Society would like the Monument to be located in Sidbury.
Trail In addition to a single sizeable monument, we also wish to place a series of cast panels at significant battle sites in and around the city. Ken has already begun preparatory work on these panels.

Funding It is hoped that the local authorities will grant the necessary permissions for these panels and for the monument, but they also need to be paid for. Our Monument Campaign seeks to raise the necessary money, directly and indirectly, to make this commemorative art possible - any donation is most welcome. Every donor will be named in a "Subscription Book". Donors gifting more than £10 will also receive a certificate. It is envisaged that the most generous donors will receive special mention in the Subscription Book and (artistic interpretation permitting) will be named at the foot of the Monument. Donantions can be made by PayPal below. However, if you would prefer to make a donation another way, then please contact us at mail@battleofworcestersociety.org.uk Thank you for your support!
