July 7th - Battlefield Wardens - The society is pleased to announce that it has appointed five custodians who will form the initial corps but the society welcomes anyone who will volunteer for this important role in helping to preserve ourt heritage.
July 1st - Battlefield Wardens - The society has launched new initiative to ensure that the historic battelfield and its surounds are recorded for posterity. See Battlefield Wardens web page on this site.
April 26th - The Three Battles Festival - This new event on the calendar involved the three societies that each represent the major battles that were fought in the local area between the 13th and 17th centuries, namely the battles of Tewkesbury, Evesham and Worcester. The event was held at the Guildhall in Worcester and was formally opened by the Worshipful Mayor of Worcester.
January 28th - The society is now a member of the newly formed Battle of Worcester Partnership that met for the first time today. The partnership has been formed to ensure that all stakeholders in the city and county of Worcester co-ordinate their activities realting to the Battle of Worcester and the history that surrounds it. The partnership will ensure that the battle, the city's role in the English Civil Wars and that period of English history are properly represented to the citizens and visitors alike.
2007
December 3rd - the Battle of Worcester Monument Appeal - the society has, today, launched an appeal to raise money, by public subscription, for the creation of a monument to the battle for erection in the city of Worcester. Member of the society and respected sculptor, Ken Potts has been commissioned by the society to produce several designs, one of which will be selected and cast as the monument to the battle.November 29th - Annual General Meeting - at the Guesten, College Green, Worcester starting at 7.00 pm. Guest Speaker - James Dinn, Worcester City Council on "the City Walls during the Civil Wars". There will be a nominal entrance fee and a raffle. New members to the society are welcome.
November 19th - Awards for All grant - The society has been successful in its application for funding under the Awards for All scheme. The society now has adequate funds to enable it to develop its programme of educational talks and displays.
October 24th - The Worcestershire County Council formally opens the refurbished viewpoint at the Carrington Bridge on the southern link road. The viewpoint overlooks the battlefield on the banks of the rivers Severn and Teme and is near to where Cromwell built his "bridge of boats".
2006
November 30th - formal start of the Battle of Worcester Society and the first general meeting.
