Bridges of Boats Presentation and Debate

Tuesday 1st September 2009 - The Commandery, Sidbury, Worcester

7.00 pm - Doors Open

7.30 pm - Presentations

8.00 pm - Debate

9.00 pm - Close

It was the Parliamentarian ability to move troops in numbers and quickly east and west of the river that, arguably, secured Cromwell's victory. However, historians differ on where exactly the bridges of boats were located, their design and how they were used.

Society Members Sean Brown and Tony Spicer will present, discuss and debate the evidence of the "Bridges of Boats" used by Cromwell to cross The River Severn during the battle. Society Committee Member Brian Bullock will chair the debate.

Hear and join the arguments!

If you have personal knowledge of the area around the confluence of the Teme and the Severn and can offer any information or views that may help inform the debate - we would particularly like to encourage you to come to this event and share your insights.

If you cannot make it on the night but have something you would like to contribute, then please let us know by posting your information and opinions on our "Knowledge Blog" (click on the link to the right of this page).

All are welcome to attend.

Tickets £4 on the door - reserve your ticket in advance on 01905 361821.
